Inside 1 Hotel Mayfair’s Giant New Penthouse Suite

London has no shortage of exceptional hotel suites – but the latest arrival is particularly special. Just unveiled at 1 Hotel Mayfair is an enormous new penthouse suite, located on the seventh floor of the hotel and offering unparalleled views of the capital. 

Spanning 274 sq.m, the size of a small football field, the Green Park Penthouse Suite is up there with some of the capital’s biggest suites – with double height ceiling and floor-to-ceiling windows making it feel even more spacious. A wraparound terrace, meanwhile, overlooks Greek Park and Piccadilly, with standout features including a gigantic sunken tiger stone bathtub, a two-person sauna, and one of the biggest flat-screen TVs we’ve ever seen.

Like the rest of 1 Hotel Mayfair, nature is embedded into the design. Sustainability is intrinsic to the creation of the hotel: when it was being built, over 80 percent of the structure was retained in a bid to reduce the carbon emissions that come with a reconstruction, and recycled materials are used throughout. 

The one-bedroom suite features earthy, natural tones, inspired by the park below. There’s a bar made from a naturally fallen British oak tree, a dining table made from raw timber, and a library wall filled with nature and designed-themed books. In the middle of the living area sits a hand blown glass cluster featuring 70 individual pendants hung from leather strapping, commissioned specifically for the suite. This unique artwork was a collaboration between Jesse Noy, who runs a low-waste leather workshop in South East London, and British lighting company Northern Lights.

Those after something even bigger can choose to connect the suite to three further bedrooms, plus a private gym, fitted with Technogym training equipment.

Guests of the suite can also enjoy an array of special services – from private dining from Tom Sellers’ on-site restaurant, Dovetale, to a dedicated bar service with their own mixologist. Not bad, eh? 

Naturally, all this comes at a price – an eye-watering £15,000 a night, to be specific. Still, one can dream.
