Avocado bathrooms are making a comeback, regency kitchens are on the rise, and the ‘frazzled English woman’ aesthetic has taken over TikTok, but what’s set to be the most coveted bedroom style next year? Here’s the rundown on the biggest bedroom trends for 2025.

Scandi-Style Open Shelving

Thinking about giving your bedroom storage an update? It seems that Scandi-style shelves are the next big thing. ‘Open shelving merges function with decoration in the bedroom,’ says Bo Hellberg, CMO at String Furniture. ‘Modular shelving is ideal for maximising your space, and you can easily change up the design. The flexibility of these shelves means that you can achieve a completely new look whenever you like. With light paint colours and minimal materials on the walls, your bedroom will look bright and spacious.’

Complete the Scandi look with soft fabrics and light wood. Andrew Seed, Managing Director at The Odd Company, suggests ‘pale wooden furniture and soft fabrics in muted tones like whites, creams, and greys. A minimalist bed frame in light oak or ash wood with a neutral linen headboard will effortlessly complement this uncluttered, functional style.’

Terracotta Tones

While the earthy, nature-inspired look is set to be all the rage when it comes to both kitchens and bathrooms, it looks like it’ll be just as popular in bedrooms, too. Bedroom paint trends in 2025 will be all about ‘terracotta and muted green tones’ paired with ‘soft pastels and warm neutrals,’ says the team at Earthborn.  ‘We’ll see more people adopt a balance between classic neutrals and maximalist bold colours through earthy tones,’ agrees Rea Bell, print and colour expert at furn.

Andrew suggests tying things together using ‘a rattan or wooden headboard, paired with soft blankets and chunky throws.’ Or finish off your terracotta bedroom with ‘juxtaposing materials like linen bedding and a suede headboard, and organic wooden furniture topped with sleek quartz,’ says Tom Howley‘s Creative Design Director. ‘Vintage details like antique mirrors, gilded picture frames and charming brass lamps will help to add warmth.’

Dark Wood

You might be good to go when it comes to storage and paint colours, but what about flooring? ‘2025 will see the return of rustic, dark woods in rich chocolatey tones,’ explains Neel Bradham, CEO of global flooring expert, Parador. ‘A smoked walnut floor, for example, adds the perfect amount of drama and contrast to what is otherwise a bright, airy space.’

Dark wood instantly contributes a snug, intimate feel to a bedroom. ‘While lighter-toned, ash hardwood flooring is a great way to brighten up a bedroom, a darker oak floor will help to create a cosier ambience,’ says Polly Bedford, director of Coppice & Crown.

Georgia Metcalfe, Founder & Creative Director of French Bedroom, notes that dark wood is also becoming a popular choice for furniture pieces. ‘Dark wooden furniture is back en vogue, thanks to consumers wanting to mix old with new. The rich, warm tones of dark wood create a welcoming atmosphere that’s ideal for the bedroom. When paired with clean lines and brass hardware, dark pieces create the perfect backdrop for showcasing statement accessories, too.’

Deep, Moody Colours

The moody kitchen might be making waves, but what about a moody bedroom look? ‘Moody tones are making a comeback,’ confirms Alex Francis, head of operations at luxury bed retailer Comodo Living. ‘Deep blues, dark greens and muted burgundy can help promote a sense of calm in the bedroom; they’re less visually stimulating than brighter counterparts, helping you to switch off and improve sleep quality. We also expect to see colour-drenched burgundy bedrooms in 2025.’

‘We’ve noticed increased demand for rich burgundy hues,’ adds Philipp. ‘It’s a trend we anticipate continuing in 2025. The growing desire to make the home feel like a sanctuary has driven the rise in popularity when it comes to darker colours, as they create a sense of warmth, cosiness and refined elegance.’ 

According to Andrew, moody bedrooms are also guaranteed to create a feeling of ‘indulgence and luxury. Imagine deep, dramatic hues like plum, burgundy, and midnight blue, paired with sumptuous fabrics such as velvet, satin, and metallic accents. To bring this look to life, layer your space with velvet cushions, heavy curtains, and jewel-toned bedding.’

Dark Boho

For a twist on the moody bedroom trend, add a touch of boho chic. ‘Dark boho is a bold, eclectic twist on traditional bohemian décor,’ explains Andrew. ‘It features deep, rich colours like charcoal, forest green, and burnt orange, mixed with textured materials like woven tapestries and rustic wood. Combine dark textiles with layered patterns using cushions, throws, and rugs in earthy shades.’

Shaker Wardrobes

If Scandi storage isn’t for you, the Shaker style is set to be an equally popular bedroom trend in 2025. ‘Defined by clean lines and simple detailing, the Shaker style offers an elegant aesthetic with timeless appeal,’ says Philipp. ‘Providing the perfect blend of form and function, Shaker wardrobes lend themselves particularly well to pared-back interiors or more traditional homes – although they’re also versatile enough to suit a more contemporary bedroom. The quality, attention to detail and use of natural wood is what truly elevates the Shaker design.’

Statement Headboards

Nothing says luxury like a gorgeous statement headboard; it’s guaranteed to transform your room and give it that high-end hotel look. ‘Being intentional with the furnishings we incorporate into our home will be a key trend for 2025, starting with a feature headboard,’ says Sam Deeble, Furniture and Home Interiors Expert at Woods Furniture. A bold headboard will ‘act as a focal point in your room,’ adds Lena Gierasinska, Head of Product and Displays at Barker and Stonehouse. ‘It’s a perfect way to add a splash of colour or pattern to a space.’

‘Headboards have seen a revival in the world of interior design,’ agrees Georgia Metcalfe, founder of French Bedroom. ‘They’re a remarkably simple way to make a statement and enliven even the simplest of spaces, in much the same way as a piece of art might do. Plus, as more of us are renting on our way to finding a forever home, headboards can easily follow you from house to house.’

While there are plenty of show-stopping headboards to choose from, they also offer the opportunity to design something totally different. ‘Increasingly, clients are seeking unique, bespoke bedroom pieces that tell a story: conversation starters that reflect their personality,’ explains Laura Hammett, interior designer and founder of luxury homeware brand Laura Hammett Living.
