Everything you need to know about Drew Barrymore Yellow

Butter yellow might be the biggest colour trend of 2025 so far, but a recent announcement from Pantone has thrown a spanner in the works. Here’s everything you need to know about the brand’s latest colour announcement, Drew Barrymore Yellow – and why it looks so familiar…

Pantone’s New Colour: What Is Drew Barrymore Yellow?

In the world of interior design, there’s no honour quite as profound as getting a Pantone shade named after you. (Just look at the frenzy caused by the brand’s annual Colour of the Year announcement.) From Tiffany to Porsche, plenty of world-famous companies count on the Pantone Colour Institute to refine their branding by creating custom hues. But where does Drew Barrymore fit in?

Well, the answer to that question is surprisingly simple. To honour Barrymore’s 50th birthday, Pantone set about creating her own signature colour. The result? A buttery yellow that isn’t, in fact, the butter yellow but ‘Drew Barrymore Yellow’: a little duskier, perhaps, without all the brightness of the trending pastel shade.

‘The Pantone Color Institute, a team of trend forecasters, colour psychologists, and branding experts, was tasked with selecting a colour that would encapsulate Drew’s remarkable career and enduring impact,’ Pantone explained. ‘The result is a softly radiant golden yellow, designed to embody her infectious optimism, creative spirit, and uplifting presence – a hue as warm and vibrant as the woman herself.’

So, there you have it: Drew Barrymore Yellow. According to Pantone, the colour ‘exudes a joyful glow, creating a space where everyone can shine. Inviting thoughts of pleasant relaxation, the creamy yellow is emblematic of Drew’s desire for happiness.’

The actress was certainly thrilled to find about the shade during her own talk show, when Tannese Williams, head of fashion, home and interiors at Pantone, surprised her with the announcement. ‘It creates a welcoming space like you do,’ Williams declared. ‘It highlights what you stand for – your mission – which is celebrating each other for who we are.’
