Frivolity meets function.

Whimsy, scalloped finishes, and a swan feature in Matilda Goad’s new collaboration with Anthropologie this Autumn. Here’s the down low.

British Interior designer, Matilda Goad, who’s known for her touch of whimsy and scalloped finishes has recently collaborated with Anthropologie on a new autumn collection. It’s Goad’s first foray into a wider range of pieces for the designer: so think barware, lighting, soft furnishings, and more occasional pieces of furniture.

‘I love to reinvent traditional objects, repackaging them in an unexpected way for the modern home’, Goad explains. It’s all about making functional furniture that bit more frivolous, that bit more beautiful to make your home an aesthete’s oasis.

Matilda Goad has taken her scalloped finishes to the floor. Her quintessentially Goad scalloped lampshades for the first time have been turned into rugs (a design debut for her). Plus with pink and green as a colour combination, what’s not to love?

Bar trolleys are set to be all the rage this autumn. This jaunty trolley in red will make any glassware and drinks station pop. But that’s also not to say it can’t also be used for a statement bedside table, for a guest room, perhaps?

Matilda Goad said she got inspiration for these swan holders (that can hold a plant or a wine bottle, the choice is yours), from a Parisian flea market. It’s all about creating moments that delight in your home.

The British designer is all about bringing an irreverent edge to the British countryside aesthetic. It’s all heavily inspired by her bucolic West Sussex childhood, that was spent in an 18th Century cottage, all decorated by her mother.

Goad then took her inspirations with her as she went to Camberwell College of Arts, then as a stylist for the likes of Wonderland, and Vogue Russia.
