Everything you need to know about the picture-perfect kitchen in ‘With Love, Meghan’

Whether you’re excited or indifferent about Meghan Markle’s much-discussed Netflix show, you’re likely just a little bit curious about what the Duchess’ home looks like. And while the show unfortunately isn’t filmed at Meghan’s sprawling Montecito residence, there are plenty of secrets behind the space we see onscreen. Here’s the rundown on Meghan Markle’s kitchen in With Love, Meghan…
Inside Meghan Markle’s Kitchen In With Love, Meghan
If you were hoping to get a peek into Meghan and Harry’s Californian mansion in Netflix’s brand new show, With Love, Meghan, you’re in for some disappointment: the sleek, farmhouse-style kitchen we see in the show isn’t, in fact, Meghan’s actual kitchen. While the Duke and Duchess live just a stone’s throw away (in a rather magnificent $14m mansion), the show was filmed in an entirely separate Santa Barbara farmhouse owned by philanthropists Tom and Sherrie Cipolla.

The $8m property sits within a five-acre plot that’s complete with lemon groves, avocado trees and even a cluster of beehives. In the show, Meghan also makes use of the estate’s vegetable garden, its rather elegant glasshouse, and even a detached ‘party barn’ which contains a handy prep kitchen.

The farmhouse also boasts five luxurious bedrooms, four bathrooms and a swimming pool, but the real star of the show is, of course, the kitchen. This is the California farmhouse aesthetic at its finest: think cream Shaker-style cabinets, glossy Caesarstone worktops and a cavernous butler’s sink, not to mention a range cooker from Thermador and a double-door fridge (which contains, as the eagle-eyed viewer will spot, vases of flowers. It seems the fridgescaping trend is Meghan Markle-approved).

When it comes to accessories, you can expect rustic wooden serving bowls, dark walnut chopping boards and, naturally, an extensive range of white Le Creuset cookware. Meghan also makes use of copper pans, artisanal Japanese knives, and a Vitamix blender that’s particularly popular among celebrities (apparently it’s Gwenyth Paltrow’s favourite).

With all of this in mind, it seems the farmhouse look is set to make a big comeback – so, if you feel like recreating Meghan Markle’s kitchen, we’ve pulled together a few tips…
Get The Look
‘A farmhouse kitchen is truly the heart of the home, designed to be both practical and inviting,’ explains Shelley Cochrane, accessories buyer at Furniture Village. ‘Typical features include a large central island, ample storage, and traditional touches like exposed beams or shaker-style cabinetry.’
The cabinets, it turns out, are a crucial part. ‘When it comes to picking the perfect cabinetry for your country-inspired kitchen, there is only one option: wooden shaker-style cabinets,’ states Al Bruce, founder of Olive & Barr. ‘Everything else will either feel too modern or too ornate, whereas Shaker-style cabinetry offers the perfect amount of rustic charm.’

To get the farmhouse look without a total kitchen overhaul, think about texture. ‘To bring a little country charm to an existing kitchen, incorporate natural materials such as wooden worktops, chopping boards and wicker accessories,’ advises Al, while Shelley suggests stone accents and linens in neutral tones.
