Understated elegance is making waves
Not quite on board with leopard print interiors? Struggling to commit to the vibrant shades of the whimsical decor trend? You might be looking for a more minimalist, ‘quiet luxury’ look – with a touch of sophistication, naturally. This, you’ll be pleased to hear, is what minamluxe design is all about. Here’s the rundown.
What Are Minimaluxe Interiors?
Striking a careful balance between (you guessed it) minimalism and luxury, the minimaluxe look describes a clean interior design aesthetic elevated by lavish tones and textures.
According to Jamie Watkins, co-founder of wallpaper and fabric brand Divine Savages, minimaluxe interiors ‘emphasise simplicity while incorporating elements of opulence.’ Think quiet luxury with a hint of Art Deco-style extravagance.
So what are the key features of this chic trend? ‘With a clean, uncluttered aesthetic comes a sophisticated colour palette of neutral tones,’ Jamie continues, ‘as well as tactile textures such as velvet, flocked paper and metallic finishes. Incorporating wallpaper into a minimaluxe interior can add depth, texture, and sophistication without overwhelming the space.’
It might all sound a little ostentatious, but Jamie also describes a more playful side to the trend. ‘Whilst Divine Savages is best known for playful, bold patterns and maximalist interiors, we also love to create designs for those who favour a more minimal interior,’ he explains. ‘We still find ways to incorporate playful twists and humour into these designs whilst maintaining a level of sophisticated luxury.’
