The Ultimate Guide To Tablescaping
Spring Tablescaping Tips
The seat for family board games, well-thought out menus, or the whole buffet… Your dining table takes on a lot of responsibility around the easter weekends. Why not elevate it with a spring tablescape? Feeling a bit intimidated by the task? Here’s what the experts suggest.
Pop In More Colour Than You Would In Winter
Founder of Truffle Bee Katerina Mechetina recommends that, for spring, you should consider popping in more colour than you might have done for your Christmas dinner table. ‘For Spring, it’s definitely about playing with an array of colour combinations,’ says Katerina, ‘My daughter’s birthday is in March and I would go for light pink and green velvet placemats to create a very special table setting – for family lunch, I’m thinking a light blue linen placemats with our signature white Petite Maison cotton tablecloth.’
Bring Nature In
Tori Murphy, founder of her eponymous brand, says that you should always bring a little of the outside in – especially as the weather (and your garden) picks up. ‘It can be very simple – think a fresh sprig of rosemary tied around a napkin, or a cut garden flower in a jam jar,’ she says, ‘It breathes life into the table setting and adds a special sense of occasion.’
Playful Glassware
Time to crack out the eccentric glassware, says Etsy’s Trend Expert, Dayna Isom Johnson. ‘There’s a lot of fun to be had with unusual glassware, and we’ve seen some really playful and fun designs making their way to tables in recent months,’ says Dayna. ‘From tumblers in unexpected shapes and colours, to vintage jugs and whimsical straws, gorgeous glassware is a great way to elevate your table this Spring.’
For Easter, Think Pink
‘For a vibrant easter tablescape, I’d recommend going all out with pastel pinks,’ suggests Darren Watts, showroom designer at Wren Kitchens, ‘start with a pink tablecloth topped with pink plates for a cohesive, blank canvas. And then add texture and pattern as you like – maybe hand painted eggs, scattered feathers, napkins tied by delicate ribbons.’
Tie It Up With Bows
We love this buzzy interiors trend: bows. ‘Bows are most popular in the world of fashion but have also become a staple in interiors, entertaining and tablescaping – be it tied to wine glasses, napkins, or menus,’ says Dayna at Etsy. ‘It adds a delicate touch to your Spring hosting. I love how customisable this trend is – almost anything can look elevated on your Easter tablescape when it’s tied up with a bow!’
