Vintage Tiffany lamps are TikTok's latest homeware obsession
From bold floral wallpaper to infamous avocado bathrooms, it’s clear that retro design is having a renaissance – and the latest trend, according to TikTok, is the humble Tiffany lamp. Here’s why this particular accessory is proving so popular.
The Tiffany Lamp Is Back – Here’s Why
Although we’re only a few months into 2025, we’ve seen plenty of intriguing design trends take shape already; just check out the modern surrealism aesthetic, or the growing penchant for purple paint. If you’re after something a little more traditional, however, there’s just as much demand for classic, vintage decor – and thanks to TikTok, Tiffany lamps are the latest homeware must-have.
Why? ‘Nostalgiacore’, of course. According to Stephanie Lipinski, a lighting expert at Don’s Light House, Tiffany lamps represent an ever-growing appreciation for retro interiors. ‘Their stunning stained-glass designs combine nostalgia with timeless elegance, making them the perfect way to add personality and warmth to any room,’ she explains.

What Is A Tiffany Lamp?
Tiffany lamps are known for their intricate glass shades and elegant bronze bases. Commonly associated with the Art Nouveau movement, the traditional Tiffany style was pioneered by artist and designer Louis Comfort Tiffany (the son of Charles Tiffany, founder of Tiffany & Co), who took inspiration from Ancient Roman techniques to create iconic stained-glass lamps. Together with Clara Driscoll, the highly skilled artisan at the head of the Tiffany Studios Glasscutting Department, Louis developed one of the most recognisable – and coveted – lamp designs in the world.
Of course, the Tiffany boom didn’t last forever; while the famous lamps were hugely popular at the turn of the 20th century, they began to fall out of fashion by around 1913. Their Art Nouveau elegance never truly diminished, however, and they’ve recently become a symbol of charming vintage interiors – especially since more affordable replicas are now hitting the market. (And popping up in antiques shops, too; authentic Tiffany lamps can set you back between $4,000 and $1 million.)
‘Already a hit on TikTok for their cosy, vintage charm, affordable reproductions are making these statement pieces more accessible than ever,’ says Stephanie. ‘Tiffany lamps are now poised to dominate interior design in 2025 – not just as lighting, but as artistic focal points that blend craftsmanship and functionality.’

How To Add A Tiffany Lamp To Your Home
Thinking of picking up a Tiffany lamp of your own? From colour choices to base metals, here are Stephanie’s top tips.
Selecting The Perfect Design
‘With countless design options available, finding a Tiffany lamp that suits your personal taste is crucial,’ Stephanie reflects. ‘Tiffany lamps come in a variety of motifs, so consider your existing decor and choose a style that matches that ambience. Whether you’re drawn to a soft, romantic vibe with floral designs or prefer a bold, geometric pattern, there’s a Tiffany lamp to suit every taste.’
Scoping Out Your Shade
A significant difference between an original Tiffany lamp and a Tiffany-style alternative is the number of pieces in the stained-glass shade. ‘The more intricate the design, the more time and craftsmanship it takes to assemble: as a general rule, the more pieces in a lamp, the higher the price, as detailed designs are more labour-intensive,’ Stephanie explains. ‘If you’re after a lamp that’s truly unique and special, look for one with a more elaborate design and a greater number of pieces.’
Choosing Your Colour
‘The depth of colour in a Tiffany lamp is another key element to consider,’ Stephanie notes. ‘High-quality Tiffany lamps feature small variations in the colour of the glass, creating a rich, multidimensional effect. Colours like ruby reds, emerald greens, and deep blues can create a striking focal point in your room, while softer tones may lend a more understated, elegant vibe. Thinking about the overall colour scheme of your space will help to guide your choice.’
Deciding On A Base
‘The base of the lamp should complement the shade, not just in terms of colour but also style,’ Stephanie advises. ‘Go for a base that harmonises with the colours and motifs in the stained glass to create a cohesive look. Whether you’re opting for a vintage bronze base or a more modern finish, ensure that it complements the intricate details of the glass.’
