Berkhamsted
Twelve of Berkhamsted‘s 2019 cohort of sixth-formers achieved straight A*’s, while 46 of them succeeded in receiving three A grades, or better.
Mr Richard Backhouse, Principal of the Berkhamsted Schools Group stated ‘With many accomplishments under each of their belts and a record-breaking set of results, this year’s Sixth Formers look set for a bright future, whether they follow previous alumni to university in the UK or the US; into a gap year experience or onto an apprenticeship scheme. Berkhamsted is very proud today of its new generation of Old Berkhamstedians.’
Felsted School
92 students from Felsted‘s class of 2019 took A-levels this summer, with a pass rate of 99.6 per cent. 82 per cent of these were grades A* – C. Those 29 students in the same year who took the International Baccalaureate Diploma all passed, resulting in a combined A-level & IB result, of 70 per cent gaining A*- B grades.
Some startling subject statistics from Felsted? Every pupil who took Latin A-level gained an A* or an A (futurum est genios?); 100% of those who took History and Classical Civilisation gained an A*-B; and more than 80% of the Politics students got an A*-B as well.
King’s Ely
At King’s Ely School, a third of all grades achieved by their recent leavers were A*’s or A’s.
14 per cent of A Level grades this year were A*, 34 per cent of results achieved were A* or A, 58 per cent of grades were A* to B, 82 per cent were grades A* to C and 99 per cent of all students achieved A* to E grades.
Sue Freestone, who retires as Principal of King’s Ely this month after 15 years at the helm, said ‘Once again, many of our students have done themselves proud this summer. Not only do we celebrate those who have earned As and A*s but all of our students who have achieved above predictions and even their own expectations to equip themselves to move on to the next steps in their journeys through life.’
Blackheath High School
Exemplars of Blackheath High School‘s fantastic stock of results this year are their five strong Head Girl Team.
Their year group’s excellent results have gained them entry into degrees such as law, medicine, politics, aerospace technology with pilot studies and English.
The girls from this GDST school can now be glad that their hard work paid off, as they leave Blackheath High School to go and chase their dreams.
St Mary’s Calne
The girls at St Mary’s Calne have achieved some excellent A Level results, with 64 per cent of the entries graded A*-A, an impressive 21 per cent graded A* and 43 per cent of the girls being awarded all A*/As. In addition, all of the girls who held Oxbridge offers secured their places and almost 90% gained their first choice of university.
There were strong performances across all subjects, particularly Further Maths (100 per cent A*), Art (86 per cent A*), Politics (57per cent A*), Latin (50per cent A*), History (29 per cent A*) and Physics (25 per cent A*).
Heathfield School
Girls at Heathfield are celebrating another year of exceptional A-level results, with nearly 40 per cent of its students’ securing A*/A, 64.4 per cent A* to B and 82.2 per cent A* to C.
The English department has marked its most successful year to date with all girls gaining A* or A grades. Performance in Maths was also outstanding with 67 per cent of students securing A* or A and 50 per cent an A* in Further Maths. Other results of note included Biology in which 40 per cent of students secured an A* or A, Photography in which 44 per cent attained an A* or A, Art in which 40 per cent secured an A and Religious Studies in which 80 per cent of the girls secured an A.
