Blackheath High School has announced the appointment of Natalie Argile as its new Head.
Mrs Argile has been Acting Head since September 2022.
Continuing the legacy of the pioneering women who founded the school as part of the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST) in 1880, Natalie’s leadership will focus on amplifying the benefits of a girls-only setting.
Natalie is passionate about defying gender stereotypes, ensuring that every subject is a girls’ subject. She says: ‘This is really important in a world where women are often underrepresented and allows them to have every choice available to them. We want girls to leave at age 18 ready to face life with courage, intellectual flexibility and emotional resilience to succeed whatever their chosen path.’
Cheryl Giovannoni, Chief Executive of GDST, added: ‘What sets Natalie apart is her commitment to Blackheath High School, her passion for girls’ education and her fierce dedication to helping each individual student reach their full potential. The GDST’s focus is on preparing young people to build a better world for the future and understanding how education fits into that ambition – Natalie is the ideal person to lead Blackheath High School into that future, and I am incredibly excited to see the next chapter under her leadership.’
