Bryanston Prep Rebrands

Following a successful year of transition, Bryanston Knighton House pre-prep and prep school in Durweston near Blandford has now been renamed Bryanston Prep and has started the new school year with a host of new workspaces and activities for its young pupils. These moves provide parents and staff with a clear message that Bryanston is now an age 3-18 through school.

Much of the prep building has been refurbished during the summer break. New facilities include a new Innovation Room, a redesigned library and a dedicated outdoor classroom. These new additions have been created to further inspire creative learning. A new contemporary uniform has also been introduced for both day wear and those special school occasions.

“Our new name and uniform for Bryanston Prep has followed consultation with staff, parents and former pupils and unites the ethos and values of Bryanston across the whole school,” says Will Lockett, Head of Bryanston Prep. “Last year’s merger of the two schools has enabled us to proceed with investment in fabulous new facilities and resources for our pupils, while still benefitting from access to the state-of-the-art facilities for sport, art and D&T at the Bryanston senior school.

“This is an exciting time for everyone involved with Bryanston Prep – our staff, our parents, and, not least, our pupils. We are entering the new school year by embodying the core principles of Bryanston, building on our strengths from the past, while also embracing new ideas and opportunities. Within this culture of creative and unbounded thinking, our pupils will learn to love their mind, find their individual spirit, and foster their passions.”

The new Innovation Room has been created to support the introduction of Bryanston Prep’s new Digital Studies Curriculum. The light and airy facility is well-equipped with new technologies to enable pupils to explore and develop skills in cross-platform digital communication, video production, animation, and creativity.

In a similar way, the Forest School provides a covered outdoor classroom with benches and woven hazel walls. Pupils will have the opportunity to learn more about the natural world and to experience a wide range of practical activities through the different seasons as part of timetabled Forest School lessons.

Bryanston Prep sits on a 30-acre site in Durweston and is directly adjacent to Bryanston’s 400-acre campus. According to Richard Jones, Head of Bryanston, the strategic decision to confirm the formation of a ‘through school’ from 3 to 18 years is a logical and significant move. “We are delighted that our prep school is now fully integrated into Bryanston and the new name confirms that. I am very proud of everything the team has achieved and delivered for the beginning of a new academic term – but we aren’t standing still. We will continue to inject further energy, ambition, and innovation into the prep school as it moves onwards to the next level of creative learning.”
