On Sunday 25th June, over 2,200 guests gathered for a ‘Proms in the Park’ Garden Party to mark Canford’s centenary year.
Alumnae from the 1940s to 2020s attended and even got the chance to take a tour of the school and its new boys’ boarding and day houses, library and assembly hall.
The day consisted of art workshops, lawn games, a music concert and a special performance from Headmaster Ben Vessey.
A two hour programme was played by various orchestra’s and bands, including Friends of Canford Music.
The event came to a close with a rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ by the Wind Orchestra and Concert Band, and ‘A Fifth of Beethoven’ finale, ending with a firework display.
Headmaster, Ben Vessey, said: ‘It was Canford and its community at its finest and a perfect, fitting tribute to the school’s historic centenary year.’
Director of Music, Christopher Sparkhall added: ‘There has been a lot of rehearsal throughout the year, and I am proud of the hard work put in by the pupils in all of our ensembles over many months to prepare for this event.’
