A Sixth Form student at Wolverhampton Grammar School, Jasmin, has been named runner-up in the 2023 Chiltern Arts Poetry Competition Under 18 category.

The competition involves writers of any age to submit a poem around a specific theme. The theme for this year was love, loss and the passage of time.

Jasmin’s poem was about the passage of time, exploring the concept of the end of the world.

She has a particular interest in poems that use imagery, metaphors and figurative language.

On the panel this year, Susan Cooper, author of The Dark is Rising, and Naomi Taylor, Chiltern Arts Founder and Creative Director.

Jasmin’s poem will be published in the 2023 Chiltern Arts Poetry Collection.
