Collaboration Aims To Raise The Profile Of The School And Offer Exciting New Extracurricular Opportunities To It’s Students.
Northampton High School GDST are delighted to announce the formation of a strategic new partnership with Northampton Town Football Club. This exciting new collaboration between the two organisations, who are both historical staples of the Northamptonshire community, will offer students unparalleled opportunities as the school’s commitment to football and sport grows ever stronger.
As part of this partnership, Northampton High School pupils from all ages of it’s age 2-18 cohort will enjoy opportunities such as; weekly coaching sessions from Northampton Town coaches, access to the Sports Leader programme to help pupils gain an accredited coaching qualification, female football curriculum ‘take over’ enrichment days and even the opportunity for talent ID visits to help identify emerging stars, potentially eligible to join the emerging talent centre programme.
Northampton High School has a rich history of helping to support and develop its students’ sporting excellence, with a notable recent example being Ellie Robinson; a school alum who scooped swimming Gold and Bronze at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Paralympic Games, and this partnership will only strengthen these opportunities for current and future students. Jamie Nash, Senior Marketing & Communications Manager commented, ‘Here at Northampton High School GDST, we are thrilled to enter this partnership with Northampton Town Football Club. Both of our organisations strive to be the best in our respective fields, be that in the classroom or on the pitch, and we look forward to the opportunities that this relationship will bring. Northampton High has a huge commitment to the world of sport, and we are dedicated to giving our students the very best opportunities available to them across the board. This partnership will not only raise the profile of the school but give pupils access to amazing enrichment opportunities to help develop their skills and enhance their education, and we are excited to get started!’
Students from Northampton High, Amélie, Bella, Ellie and Olivia, who are each keen footballers, were invited to Sixfields to help kick off this collaboration. As part of their visit, the pupils were treated to an all-access tour of the stadium, the opportunity to lift the trophy from the famous 2020 Play Off Final victory over Exeter City and even step on to the pitch on what was a surprisingly warm October morning. The best surprise was saved until last however, when the pupils were greeted by Northampton Town star-striker Jade Bell, who presented the students with their very own shirts before sharing some valuable advice on how they can progress in the world of football.
Northampton Town Commercial Director James Corrigan said, ‘It’s brilliant to have partnered with Northampton High School. The collaboration will see the football club utilising their experience and knowledge to support various curriculums. It will also see pathways being opened to the girls at the school and give the opportunity for the girls to come and experience women’s game days. We are excited by the knowledge sharing, experience and collaboration the partnership will bring. It’s a great step for both institutes and the women’s game.’
