Papplewick Plays Host

The art department at Papplewick School – a day, weekly, and full boarding preparatory school for around 210 boys between the ages of six and 13 in Ascot, Berkshire – enjoyed a visit from local artist, Marc Chaumeton, when he worked with year eight boys during their current project of painting orchids. 

Marc – who is from Farnham – studied at Camden Arts Centre, Central School of Art and Design and Brighton Art School. He previously worked in the design and advertising industry but has now wound down his commercial work so that he can concentrate on his painting and drawing. 

The art department at Papplewick is strong and regularly gains scholarships to top UK public schools. ‘It was a great experience for the boys to welcome Marc into the art department,’ headmaster, Tom Bunbury said. ‘They learnt much from him to help further with their work.’

Situated in 15 acres of land opposite Ascot Racecourse, Papplewick has an excellent record for academic achievement and feeds many of the UK’s top independent senior schools, including Eton, Harrow, Winchester, Wellington, Stowe and Bradfield.

In the last three years the school has maintained its academic record, gaining no less than 38 awards to top independent schools, including three King’s Scholarships to Eton. Through its strong commitment to sports, the school also builds skills of teamwork, sportsmanship and responsibility.
