Reed’s School launched a remarkable project recently by releasing a charity single into the charts. The project was in celebration of 150 years of their alumni network, the Old Reedonians, being formed.
Driven by a group of Old Reedonian composers, musicians and filmmakers, who gave their time and resources for free, they took a group of current pupils to join them at Abbey Road Studios to create a piece of music with universal appeal. The inspiration was the School Prayer, written by their founder, Rev. Andrew Reed. It isn’t showy, and despite being titled ‘Blessed Saviour’, you don’t need to be religious to understand its message – it simply asks for the strength to do better.
The result was a musical celebration that’s as meaningful as it is inspiring – the pupils experienced an exceptional day steeped in excitement, unity and the making of school history. Proceeds will go the Andrew Reed Foundation which supports children who have lost one or both parents to receive a life-changing education.
