Students from St Columba’s College have raised £1,500 for Open Door, a charity that supports homeless people.
The money was raised by students participating in a homeless sleepout event, which saw 40 students from Year 9 to 11 take part in workshops to learn about the challenges homeless people face.
Students were also given the opportunity to learn more about Open Door with a video presentation.
Open Door provides homeless people near St Albans with night shelters, outreach workers and meals.
The money raised by the students will help to fund a pilot scheme with Druglink, to provide support to those with addiction issues and full time outreach workers to support rough sleepers.
