Having a Ball at Taunton School

Taunton School has raised more than £18,000 for its bursaries and assisted places programme at its annual Charity Ball.

Taunton School offers a range of bursaries and assisted places to help give children life-changing educational opportunities. Its Charity Ball is organised each year by the School’s Foundation team, which also manages the School’s vast network of alumni, and sees businesses, parents, local people, past students, and employees come together to raise money to help fund these places.

Director of Foundation & Alumni Relations, Jack Clark, said: ‘It was wonderful to see our whole community come together to raise money for means-tested assisted places at Taunton School. This was the fourth year we have run the event and I’m pleased to report, our most successful yet!’

This year’s Charity Ball featured a three-course meal prepared by the School’s in-house catering team, live music from local band ‘All Jazzed Up’ and an auction which included more than 35 lots. The highest winning bid was £1,250 for four tickets to England vs France at the upcoming Six Nations.

Two Old Tauntonians were invited to speak at the event about their experience of being awarded an assisted place at the School.

‘School for us was more than just an education,’ said Marnie, one of the two speakers. ‘It was a place where we felt secure, looked after and happy. My education at Taunton School helped me in ways you cannot imagine and I’m so grateful to the School for allowing me this opportunity.’

Taunton School’s alumni network includes more than 10,000 past students across more than 120 countries. The School remains connected with the students through regular communications and a wide range of events organised each year by our Foundation and Alumni Office, offering life-long support to all students.
