The players have been praised by England coach Marcus Trescothick, who also coaches at Taunton School. He said: ‘We are very proud of the players and how hard they have worked to achieve these accolades and they have a great opportunity to progress to higher levels.’

Ollie, 18, said: ‘It’s a good feeling to be selected by Somerset as it gives me a confidence boost to feel I have the potential to be a pro.

‘Taunton School has given me the best experience of my life and the school’s support has allowed me to progress to where I am.’

Fellow cricketer Brooke, 15, said: ‘Cricket makes me happy. The women’s game is growing and I’d love to play for England in the future.’

Pete Sanderson, Director of Cricket at Taunton School, said: ‘We’re incredibly proud of Brooke, Alice, Ollie and Kian. They all work very hard and they have bright futures ahead of them in cricket.’

Taunton School was recently named as one of the top cricketing schools in the UK, with both the Senior School and Prep School being included in The Cricketer Schools Guide 2023.
