Wetherby Pembridge, the state-of-the-art independent co-educational senior school opening in September 2025 in Kensington Olympia, West London, unveils plans for its world-leading facilities, which will include one of the largest outdoor sports grounds amongst London’s independent schools, covering an area of almost 15 acres.
Wetherby Pembridge is committed to delivering an exceptional sports programme, featuring a diverse and comprehensive curriculum of activities at its site Wetherby Pembridge Sports Ground (WPSG) Wood Lane, located less than 15 minutes from the school. At WPSG Wood Lane, through the Autumn and Spring terms students have access to four grass pitches (for rugby or football), one floodlit full size astroturf for hockey and rugby, netball pitches, a contemporary pavilion and changing rooms. In the Summer, WPSG Wood Lane boasts three cricket pitches, one floodlit astroturf for hockey and tennis, two hard tennis courts, cricket nets, pavilion and changing rooms.
The high-quality and extensive range of facilities positions Wetherby Pembridge as a leader in sports education amongst London’s independent schools. Additionally, the entire top floor of the main school building, which will offer panoramic views of the city, will be dedicated to sports and physical education. This will include a weights gym, a cardio gym and an open area for martial arts and yoga, with dance and music studios located on the 6th floor.
Wetherby Pembridge, part of the Inspired Education Group, will blend traditional education with innovative learning by focussing on their academically rigorous and cross-curricular approach that develops key skills alongside the best in traditional academic qualifications. In addition to the second-to-none sporting facilities, the school will feature a state-of-the-art library filled with natural light from the atrium, performance spaces adjacent to the main hall, and a spacious terrace connected to the dining room, providing students with continuous access to fresh air without leaving the school grounds.
The school will offer exceptional creative arts facilities including a professional standard theatre with retractable seating, which will encompass the whole of the lower ground floor. The theatre space, which can also be converted into a basketball court with retractable nets fixed to the ceiling, will be available for use by partner organisations and the local community at weekends, demonstrating the school’s commitment to supporting local schools and community groups.
Nick Page, Founding Headmaster of Wetherby Pembridge, said: “With world-leading facilities from sports and STEM to creative arts and literature, Wetherby Pembridge will provide an exceptional platform for students to develop the skills and values to excel in whichever field they choose.
