The Curriculum

Bespoke to each individual, with no timetabling restraints. A-level (44 subjects) and GCSE (29 subjects) offered. . Class sizes of fewer than ten allow for plenty of individual attention and a dedicated academic support department assists students with study skills.

Games & The Arts

Extensive extra-curricular programme encompassing sport, drama, Duke of Edinburgh, journalism and art. Careers-related and topical seminars given by eminent speakers. Enviable South Kensington location offers easy access to museums and galleries. Travel scholarships are available to support adventurous or worthwhile trips.

Pastoral Care

‘Staff know and understand the students, the students greatly value the support they receive,’ state the ISI, which graded MPW London as ‘Excellent’ in every category of its most recent inspection. A team of Directors of Studies look after students, supporting academic progress, university applications and general welfare through regular meetings. Informal meetings between parents, students and tutors provide a constructive forum for feedback and improvement. ‘They have put themselves out to be helpful,’ said one parent to the Good Schools Guide. A college counsellor and welfare officer is on site every day and available for appointments with all students. Regular seminars are held for students covering topics such as mindfulness and an annual ‘supporting teenagers through exam stress’ seminar for parents is so popular that it is repeated over multiple dates.

University Places

Over 70 per cent to top tier institutions including Russell Group.

Head Teacher’s Philosophy

MPW’s mission is to help students develop their confidence, maturity, knowledge and skills, turning their academic aspirations into reality. Through our bespoke lessons, we aim to make working hard good fun and equip our alumni with the independence and aptitudes they need for success at university and beyond.

Outstanding Characteristics

  • Bespoke timetabling with no restrictions: students can take any subject at any level in any combination
  • Excellent university preparation with specialist provision for those applying to Oxbridge and for competitive courses such as Medicine, Law or Engineering
  • Small class sizes (fewer than ten) enabling group learning alongside plenty of individual attention
  • Unashamed exam focus: many teachers are examiners and students practice examination technique as a cumulative process alongside their studies
  • Relaxed atmosphere coupled with academic rigour: students are not required to wear a uniform and are on first-name terms with their tutors but must adhere to strict rules regarding attendance, punctuality and submission of work
