The Curriculum
A comprehensive and broad range of subjects are offered throughout the school, with around 30 choices for GCSE and A-level students. Subjects are enhanced by around 50 extra and co-curricular activities.
Games & the Arts
Set on a 60 acre site and boasting its own sports centre (including a swimming pool and all-weather pitches), the school is well-resourced. St Margaret’s has its own performing arts centre and is in the process of building a new music centre.
Pastoral Care
Excellent pastoral care and nurturing individuals in a diverse community underpins all that the school does. There is a commitment to developing girls and boys to be ready for the modern world; equipping them with self-confidence, personal responsibility and resilience so that they can have fulfilling lives and have a positive impact on the lives of others.
University Places
St Margaret’s has a well-deserved reputation for high academic achievement and students go on to study at top class academic and arts institutions both in the UK and abroad.
Head Teacher’s Philosophy
At St Margaret’s there is a belief that a pupil can only reach their full potential if they are firstly, happy and confident in the school environment and secondly, stimulated and challenged to step outside their comfort zone. Pupils learn to understand compassion and empathy and the importance of not only being part of a community but how vital it is to give back to it.
Outstanding Characteristics
St Margaret’s is a school with a great history and tradition. Central to their approach is to consider the whole child and to prepare them for life. Whilst there is an emphasis on academic challenge, curiosity and passion for learning, there is also great store placed on relationships and self-awareness. In essence, a St Margaret’s education is a wonderful blend of both opportunity and stretch.
