Globe-Trotter Adds New Design Catalogue
Globe-Trotter knows that travelling light is in fashion these days, which is why it’s just added a new design to its catalogue. The aptly named Metropolis range retains all the signature details that make Globe-Trotters the most handsome cases to circuit the carousel, including a vulcanised fibreboard shell, English leather handles and aerospace-grade rivets, but with a new durable aluminium frame that makes it almost 20 percent lighter than its traditional woodframed cases.

Swaine Debuts Snakewood Umbrella
Through its elevated workmanship, Swaine – Britain’s oldest luxury brand – has made the humble brolly more than just a tool to tackle downpours. In fact, it’s given it star status, having made the umbrellas you’ll have seen in a slew of iconic flicks, from Gene Kelly’s in Singing in the Rain, to Mary Poppins’ sassy parrot-head brolly and Colin Firth’s portable bullet shield in the Kingsman franchise. Swaine still makes its umbrellas by hand in Cambridgeshire, where handles, shafts, spokes and silk canopies are all fashioned and fitted. Its latest masterpiece is its Snakewood edition, made from the rarefied South American wood with a textured pattern resembling reptilian scales. A true gent wouldn’t be caught toting anything less. Just don’t leave this one on the bus.

Oliver Brown Unveils Roman Holiday Collection
Savile Row style maven Sir Hardy Amies waxed lyrical in his 1964 seminal tome The ABC of Men’s Fashion about the virtues of Italian style. For SS25, another standard-bearer of British sartorialism, Oliver Brown, has taken a leaf from this libro with a collection that taps Gregory Peck’s sprezzatura in 1953 flick, Roman Holiday. Swapping the starchier shapes of English tailoring for the sort of soft, deconstructed jackets you’d more often find in an atelier near the Piazza di Spagna than Sloane Square, you’ll find lightweight and breathable fresco wools and linens in earthy and pastel hues. You’ll feel like you’re a leading man in a Fellini flick. Molto bene.

Joanie Clothing Collaborates With Celia Birtwell On Latest Drop
Vintage-inspired label Joanie Clothing unveiled its latest restock this month, created in collaboration with print designer Celia Birtwell. A muse to artist David Hockney and partner of fashion designer Ossie Clark, Birtwell is known for her feminine, ditsy florals and print clashing tendencies. And the new collection with Joanie Clothing, comprised of 14 70s-inspired dresses and tops, brings to life some of Birtwell’s most famous prints (including fan favourites ‘Marie Antoinette’ and ‘Delaware’).
‘To me, unquestionably, Celia is the queen of ditsy florals,’ said Lucy, founder and brand manager of Joanie Clothing. ‘A trailblazing titan of the twin print, expertly smushing together complementary colours and playful prints in varying scales, grounds, and clashing styles, always tastefully. Not understated, but also not ‘too loud’ either, creating a look that is consistently synonymous with vintage style. It’s a ‘pinch me’ moment to bring this collection to life after years of fangirling over her prints.
‘Celia’s prints are distinctive and bold, with an incredible attention to detail,’ she continues. ‘Her designs are striking and instantly recognisable, evoking the spirit of the late 60s and early 70s with their playful scales, complimentary colours, and idiosyncratic names. This timeless collection is designed to be worn season after season, year after year.’
‘When I was approached by Joanie, I was delighted to find that an enthusiastic company, run by sharp and savvy women who knew their market, was interested in using my prints,’ added Celia. ‘We were able to sit down and discuss what sort of designs in which colours they thought would work best, and we discussed which clothes best suited which designs. It has been a very harmonious relationship, and I have thoroughly enjoyed working on the collection.’
