Danish design is popping off this season

It’s that time of year again. Copenhagen kicked off Fashion Week SS25 with a run of fantastic runways and presentations across the city – and amongst the stylish show-goers and buzzy activations, a new set of trends were born. These are the ones to have on your radar.

The Top Trends At Copenhagen Fashion Week SS25

Fashion Week marked the return of Scandinavian minimalism, blended with eclectic and free-spirited design. Earthy tones, flowing silhouettes and bold patterns paired alongside artisanal craftsmanship dominated the SS25 runway. Want to know more? These are the trends to make a note of:

  5. Drowning in Drape

1. Boho’s Back

Bohemian style has once again returned to the runways. With roots hailing back to 1850s France, the trend peaked in popularity in the 1970s before experiencing a revival in the 2010s. It seems Copenhagen designers are embracing nostalgia for SS25, leaning into the tenets of loose, free-flowing silhouettes, earthy colour palettes and intricate detailing. Highlights came Lovechild1979, whose collection championed formless shapes and non-constricting clothing, and Munthe, which opted for feminine fabrics, milky whites and sheer lace garments.

2. Statement Stripes

The Scandi style set are no stranger to a bold, minimalist pattern – and Copenhagen Fashion Week SS25 certainly did not disappoint on this front. The pattern of the season? Stripes. Look to Baum und Pfergarten for a lime green (or should we say Brat green?) knitted co-ord with strong vertical lines, and Caro Editions for playful, easy-to-wear streetstyle striping. Opéra Sport’s collection went a step further and bridged the gap between classic Parisian tailoring and the athletic Danish edge, capturing a chic European aesthetic.

3. Capri Co-ords

The return of capri trousers has been a controversial topic in the fashion world. Notoriously hard to style, Copenhagen designers have offered a solution: capri co-ords. With several collections putting these cut-off trousers front and centre, the runway saw capris styled with oversized blazers, sweaters and crop tops in neutral tones. Alternatively, Skall Studio offered a monochromatic modern twist on the trend, with a butter yellow structured set.

4. Texture On Texture

Knit, crochet, beading and ruffles; Copenhagen can’t get enough of texture. Some of the highlights this season came from A. Roege Hove, a conceptual knitwear brand, which embraced tactile texture; designer Joao Maraschin, who featured feather-like finishes and fringing; and Stem, whose founder Sarah Brunnhuber stuck strictly to woven pieces this season.

5. Drowning In Drape

Delicate draping has become an increasingly popular trend with the rise of romanticism in fashion. The designers at Copenhagen Fashion Week SS25 were still riding high on the trend, bringing it to new artistic heights on the runway. Mark Kenly Domino Tan featured multiple looks highlighting the drapery, including a stunning icy blue dress layered over pleated grey chiffon trousers. Similarly, Herskind’s runway presented drapery as a wearable contemporary trend, embracing loose printed designs and slinky, metallic fabrics.
