Valentine’s Outfits: Date Night Outfits
1. The Dinner Dress
The Date: Fancy dinner
For the date that’s been months in the making – aka, that fancy dinner reservation that left you on a sizeable waiting list – it’s customary to dress up at least a little. A nice dress and heels will take you far, from dinner to drinks to late-night dancing in jazz clubs (and the photos won’t look too bad, either).

2. Luxe Loungewear
The Date: Movie night
Not in the mood for dressing up? If you’re spending the next date night in the comfort of your own home – think movie and a takeaway vibes – then outfits can definitely be steered towards more casual, comfortable options. But if you still want to give the illusion you spent ages getting ready for the night, simply slip on a chic loungewear set and a pair of slippers. Cosy chic never looked (or felt) so good.

3. Roll Neck & Mini Skirt
The Date: Pub crawl
A night at the pub? Sounds like a date to us. Casual drinks with your date doesn’t require a full-glam moment, but it doesn’t hurt to go beyond your typical jeans and shirt duo – meet somewhere in the middle with a roll neck and mini skirt, dressed up with knee high boots and (if chilly) a chunky knit jumper. Perfect for crafting elevated cosy vibes.

4. Jeans & A Nice Top
The Date: Activity-led dates
If you prefer to fill your dates up with fun activities like mini golfing, axe throwing or arcade browsing, then you’ll want something a bit more flexible (or, at least, flexible enough to keep up with your busy schedule). Cue the classic ‘jeans and a nice top’ combo; ideal for running around without worrying the threat of a wardrobe malfunction, yet easy to elevate with a dressier top and ballet flats if the occasion calls for it.

5. Cosy Knits
The Date: Grabbing coffee
For a low-key, relaxed kind of date night (during which you actually leave the house), look no further than your local coffee shop. Curl up in a quiet corner with your date, cradle a cup of coffee in mug-warm hands and spend the hours getting to know each other. Extravagant dressing isn’t necessary here; just stick to casual jeans, trainers and a cosy jumper, cardigan or sweater vest.

6. T-Shirt & A Slip Skirt
The Date: Gallery grazing
Birds of a feather flock together – so you’ll likely find culture vultures flying over to one of the city’s many galleries and museums (and their late-night members events) to grab a slice of post-work picture-perusing. A night at the museum guarantees a fair bit of walking around, so you’ll want to wear something fairly comfortable; we’re a big fan of teaming up a t-shirt with a snazzy slip skirt.

7. Coat & Wellies
The Date: Dog walking
Dog walks with your date may have hit peak popularity during lockdown, but the trend is still going as far as we can tell. On this occasion, it’s best if you leave the heels and white trainers at home – unpredictable UK weather often calls for a coat and wellies instead (and provide plenty of cover from any canine splashing).

8. Band T-Shirt
The Date: Concerts & gigs
Share a similar taste in music? Whether you both go wild for rock music or harbour an affinity for all things classical, a concert date calls for one thing: band merch. Opting for a t-shirt from your gig or artist of choice will ultimately save you from overthinking the night’s outfit – phew – and all you’ll need to complete the look are jeans and a pair of comfy shoes.
