Ever wondered what you might find inside the wardrobe of legendary musician Elton John? Well, now you don’t need to wonder. The singer has teamed up with eBay this Pride Month for a charity auction in benefit of the Elton John AIDS Foundation – and you can get your bids in now.

Rocket Man Resale: Elton John Auctions Off Wardrobe For Charity

June might nearly be over, but Pride is still going strong – especially on resale platform eBay, which has just opened the digital doors on an exclusive auction in collaboration with British singer-songwriter Elton John.

Dubbed the ‘Rocket Man Resale’, the event will bring hundreds of items from the musician’s wardrobe to the eBay community, offering them a chance to get their hands on a coveted piece of music – and fashion – history. Beginning on 27 June 2024, eBay has announced that 100 percent of sales will benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

‘Giving new life to the cherished items from my wardrobe has always been special to me. For decades I’ve donated my closet’s treasures to support the Elton John AIDS Foundation,’ said Elton John. ‘This Pride Month, I’m excited to share my Atlanta treasure trove on eBay, hoping these items will inspire you to express your unique spirit and bring you as much joy as they’ve brought me. Whether you’re after high-end luxury or something more laid-back, there’s a perfect find for everyone. Even better, every pound goes to supporting the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s work to end LGBTQ+ stigma.’

Auction Highlights

As mentioned, Rocket Man Resale Auction will consist of hundreds of items from Elton John’s closet – from bespoke Gucci jackets and Versace robes to customised Prada loafers. Alongside the singer’s personal items, fans will also be able to bid on musical memorabilia, such as historic concert shirts, baseball caps and other merch.

‘Elton John’s wardrobe is decades in the making – to own something worn by him is to own a piece of music and fashion history,’ said Charis Marquez, VP of Fashion at eBay. ‘Having a cultural icon selling his pre-loved fashion on eBay in support of the Elton John AIDS Foundation is a real indicator of our ability to offer incredible access to luxury items that you just can’t find anywhere else.’

A number of other famous names, including David Furnish, Donatella Versace, Brandi Carlile, Betsey Johnson, Robin Roberts and Andy Cohen, have also opened their wardrobes to eBay this Pride Month; they will be offering will be offering select pre-loved pieces from their own closets in support of the auction.
