Trends At A Glance
- Oversized Tailoring
- Animal Print
- Bermudas
- Sheer
- Fringing
- Polka Dots
- Embellished Jackets
1. Oversized Tailoring
Forget office siren, we’re kicking off 2025 with sartorial sleekness. ‘Oversized tailoring is a trend that is here to stay,’ confirms British fashion designer and host of the Style DNA podcast, Amanda Wakeley OBE. ‘Think exaggerated shoulders on jackets and coats – although not to be confused with the ultra-shoulder pads of the 80s. This is a softer silhouette that is more androgynous, but surprisingly flattering.’
2. Animal Print
Think you escaped 2024’s leopard print craze? Think again. We can expect all manner of animal-inspired patterns taking shape over the next year. ‘Animal print continues to be a big trend in 2025 – including leopard print, cow print, and tiger print. It is a new neutral,’ says Amanda. ‘It is a great way to add some cool pattern to your look. And if you don’t want to venture all-over print, you can always try a pair of animal print boots or a statement bag.’
3. Bermudas
It’s never too early to start dreaming about 2025 holiday plans – especially if there’s some sun involved. And what will the style set be wearing on those sunny days? A good pair of Bermudas. ‘Tailored shorts are going to be everywhere for Spring/Summer 2025,’ Amanda tells us. ‘They have literally been on every catwalk from New York to Milan to Paris. The key appeal is that these shorts have a very tailored look – with the best ones coming as part of a suit.’
4. Sheer
A moment of sheer joy on the 2025 fashion trend forecast. ‘The sheer trend is expected to only gain momentum as we hit Spring/Summer 2025,’ says Amanda. ‘It can be fantastically flattering as it allows you to remain subtly covered. Imaging long sleeves, voluminous silhouettes, ruffles and maxi lengths – when done in sheer fabrics there is a lightness and movement that is just so compelling and romantic.’
5. Fringing
Boho is back – and better than ever. ‘Fringing is back with a vengeance,’ says London-based personal stylist Sian Clarke. ‘It’s already spreading across the high street, this time in the form of tassels. Tassels can be found in so many different styles and fabrics. Leather tassels are where it’s at, but you’ll also see denim, crochet, and even sequin variations – there’s a version for everyone’s personal style. It’s going to be super sought-after; it can be tailored to any silhouette, adds instant detail to any outfit and gives off that coveted cool girl, high-energy vibe.’
6. Polka Dots
Animal isn’t the only print making a splash in 2025. Cue, the classic polka dot. ‘It’s getting a contemporary twist for 2025,’ adds Sian. ‘A sophisticated and delicate print that is the definition of versatile. You can wear it head to toe, experiment with scale and explore multiple colour palettes in one. This the perfect print to start with if you’re new to incorporating patterns into your wardrobe – it’s a true classic. Polka dots are also super nostalgic – remember how powerful Julia Roberts’s now-iconic dress was in Pretty Woman?’
7. Embellished Jackets
It’s all about wearing your personal style on your sleeve – literally. ‘For 2025, we want jackets that create a huge impact when you wear them,’ notes Sian. ‘Embellishments, jacquards, 3D sequin flowers – you name it. They do all the talking for your outfit. They will take the “more is more” approach, layered over simple, cohesive outfits. Think glamorous jackets paired with low-key plain bottoms, simple knitwear, and slick back hair. They’re so easy to throw on when running out the door and instantly create a strong look (with minimal effort). Easy dressing at its very finest.’
