Kendall Jenner Is The New Face Of Stella McCartney’s Winter 2023 Campaign

British fashion house Stella McCartney has teamed up with one of the industry’s biggest supermodels, Kendall Jenner, to bring its Winter 2023 campaign to life. Here’s everything you need to know, and why Jenner was picked for the role.

In case you missed it: earlier this week, Stella McCartney unveiled its Winter 2023 campaign starring Kendall Jenner. Titled ‘Horse Power’, the campaign was shot by Harley Weir in the Camargue Salt Flats of France, where the model posed in the brand’s upcoming collection surrounded by white ponies.

A reflection of the brand’s AW23 runway show, the equestrian theme runs throughout the campaign to present ‘the transformational connections between humans and horses’. The connections come to the fore in the collection through rope details inspired by bridle reins, quilting reinterpreting horse blankets, and Appaloosa jacquards referencing an American breed that McCartney’s own family raised.

The collection has also been crafted from 92 percent conscious materials, making it Stella McCartney’s most responsible winter line so far. It includes a number of material innovations, including the vegan crocodile-effect Frayme and S-Wave bags made from apple waste, riding boots crafted from grape waste, and a number of fungi mycelium and MIRUM© accessories.

Why Kendall Jenner?

With the the collection itself being heavily inspired by McCartney’s love of horses, the designer wanted to create a campaign that could celebrate the animal in all its wild beauty – and so, the model leading the campaign had to be OK working closely with them, too.

Kendall Jenner became the successful candidate for the role not just because she could model the collection well, but because she shares in McCartney’s equestrian passion. Both have ridden horses since childhood, and felt completely at ease working with horses on set.

‘I knew this season’s Stella girl had to love horses as much as I do,’ said Stella McCartney. ‘Kendall has been riding since she was a kid, just like me, and has her own ranch; you can see how at ease she is around these sensitive creatures, and them with her. Capturing this connection brings Horse Power to life, both through the fashion and the vision.’

In the campaign, Jenner can be seen posing with a group of white ponies (all of which were provided by horse whisperer and rescuer, Jean-Francois Pignon), looking completely relaxed – despite in one shot being surrounded by running horses, laying beneath a rearing pony in another and laying naked atop one horse in the third.

When Will The Stella McCartney Winter Collection Be Available?

The Stella McCartney Winter 2023 will be available to shop in boutiques globally, at selected retailers worldwide and at stellamccartney.com from August 2023.
