Crocs Get A Runway Finish In New Collection

While by no means a small name in the world of fashion, Simone Rocha is experiencing new levels of fame this month thanks to a collaboration with footwear label Crocs. Unveiled during the designer’s SS24 runway show last September, the collection quickly became a talking point – with audiences latching on to the bedazzled, pearl-encrusted Crocs strutting down the catwalk.

Where previous iterations of the collaborative Croc have played on colours, shapes and patterns, Simone Rocha’s take was something that felt entirely new: it was an elevation of some of the brand’s most classic styles, with all of the designer’s signature soft girlishness. The collaboration itself was comprised of three styles, including the Classic Clog, the Siren and the Quicktrail, all of which were decorated in pearls, crystals, beads and ribbons in an exploration of ‘the creative juxtaposition of femininity and utilitarianism’.

‘It’s a really good chance to stretch your mind in other directions,’ Rocha told Harper’s Bazaar at the end of 2023. ‘When I take on a collaboration, I always want it to be something where I can take my expertise to something new. Maybe that means doing something super high level with Moncler or perhaps super playful with Crocs, creating something en masse with H&M – which was like night and day compared with running an independent label – or really understanding a new way of working with Jean Paul Gaultier. Collaboration is just all about learning.’
