A new sartorial hotspot has opened on London’s Jermyn Street, courtesy of Sunspel. Here’s what to expect from your first visit.

What To Expect From Sunspel’s Jermyn Street Store

Having crafted British luxury wares since 1860, Sunspel is, by definition, a heritage brand – but it’s also no stranger to innovative. It was the first brand to introduce boxer shorts to the UK in the 1940s, became the go-to brand for producing polo shirts for James Bond and is also known for its exquisitely made T-shirts for men and women, handmade in England.

And now, with the opening of its flagship store on Jermyn Street, the classically cool items can be shopped at leisure. Building on its legendary T-shirt status, customers can even design their own tee via a Bespoke T-shirt service, offered exclusively at the new store.

Drawing on the brand’s rich T-shirt-making heritage, customers can choose from a range of fine fabrics. Each will be expertly cut and tailored to the customer’s specifications in the brand’s Long Eaton factory, Nottingham, which has been its home since 1937. This marks an extension of its popular current service that’s used by celebrities, stylists and costume designers, including Charlie Watts of the Rolling Stones and Daniel Craig’s James Bond.

‘We are particularly excited for the opening of our new flagship store,’ said Sunspel’s CEO Raul Verdicchi. ‘This is our second store opening so far this year and marks an important moment in our journey, offering customers an immersive brand experience, with a dedicated space for Sunspel’s rich archive.

‘Additionally, we are thrilled to introduce our Bespoke T-shirt service, allowing customers to tailor our iconic T-shirts by choosing specific sizes, fits, and details, making each item truly unique.’

Alongside the collections, the two-storey store is showcasing Sunspel’s history from its roots in Nottingham in 1860 to the present day. It will exhibit rare artefacts and fabrics, highlighting the brand’s innovation over the years. The space will also double up as a venue for events and personal styling appointments.

Continuing with the British theme, the store plays host to British-designed furniture, specially curated with twentytwentyone, from ‘Kingston’ chairs by William Plunkett, a mid-century design staple, and a Loop Coffee Table by contemporary designers, Barber Osgerby, and produced by Isokon Plus, a manufacturer that dates back to the 1930s.
