Jimmy Choo’s New Crystal Slippers Are The Epitome Of Princess Glamour

Quiet luxury who? After a year of minimalist-driven fashion and pared back design, we’re ready to once again embrace opulence and glamour to their fullest extent – and we’ve got just the heels to kick things off. The Crystal Slipper, the latest creation from the Jimmy Choo label, is everything we could want in loud luxury (and so much more).

It’s not everyday you find yourself in awe of a shoe (unless you are, of course, Carrie Bradshaw), but when it came to The Crystal Slipper we had to take a moment (or five) to appreciate it in all its sparkly glory.
Described by Jimmy Choo as ‘the ultimate fairytale shoe reimagined for the present day’, The Crystal Slipper is about as Cinderella-coded as shoes get – minus the health hazard of an all-glass heel. Inspired by 18th century Rococo court shoe, the slippers feature a slim heel, pointed toe and an elegant curl lightly arching over the toe box (a nod to the frills and swirls that remained popular throughout the era).
But it’s arguably the bling that steals the show. Each pair of slippers feature 12,938 hand-applied gems comprising nine varieties of Swarovski crystals – which even cover the underside of the shoe – to create the illusion of jewels radiating light. At the front, you’ll also spot a hand embroidered heart-shaped crystal cluster. Jimmy Choo, a label synonymous with luxury materials and especially crystals, used the Swarovski gems specifically to give The Crystal Slipper an air of magic and fantasy – making it the perfect princess shoe.
‘Embodying fantasy and magic, the Crystal Slipper is an ode to the eternal allure of glamour,’ said Jimmy Choo’s Creative Director, Sandra Choi. ‘I was inspired by the concept of love and drawn to Swarovski’s heart-shaped crystals.’
Various campaign images of The Crystal Slipper show how it was handmade by artisans, as well as the original sketch created by Choi. Jimmy Choo global brand ambassador Cho Miyeon, a South Korean singer and actress best known for her work in K-pop girl group (G)I-DLE, can also be seen wearing the glittery heels in a photoshoot.
How To Shop The Crystal Slipper
Jimmy Choo dropped The Crystal Slipper on its website in early February 2024, with two heel sizes to choose from. The slipper is currently priced at £4,000. jimmychoo.com
