Move over balletcore fashion, 2024 is all about the pretty pink makeup

Balletcore fashion was huge in 2023, with ballet pumps and pretty pink hues everywhere from the runways to the high street. But do not despair, tiny dancers, because we’re pirouetting into the New Year with balletcore makeup as the trend to watch. Here’s what you need to know.

What Is The Balletcore Makeup Trend?

The natural successor of balletcore style, the balletcore beauty trend is an equally romantic and feminine makeup look inspired by the grace and poise of the ballet. It is all about creating a soft, natural, and flushed appearance, with an emphasis on sheer, radiant, and clean makeup and (of course) plenty of pretty ballet pinks. The trend has been seen on the catwalks and is gaining popularity on TikTok and Instagram, too.

How Do You Create The Look?

The makeup trend incorporates elements such as flushed cheeks, sheer dewy skin, nude lips, and a soft colour palette. Embrace a hyper-femme approach to picking your colour palette, opting for warm and nude pinks, and finish off with a sleek ballet bun. You can be as bold or as subtle as you want with this trend, but the prettiest takes on the trend incorporate hot pink blush tones with a glossy, radiant skin finish and a frosted pink lip.

Who Does The Look Suit?

Ballet pinks and pretty peach hues will suit all skin tones. Switch out your bronzer for a pale pink blush and opt for a sugar-pink lip tint and a radiant skin finish.

Which Shows Featured Balletcore Makeup?

The balletcore beauty trend was featured in several SS24 shows, from the sublest take on the look at Miu Miu with pared-back makeup and a hint of peach and pink on the natural-look skin, to the extreme, exaggerated operatic-style balletcore beauty at the Alice + Olivia SS24 show
