Tinted Moisturisers

Now that your skin has seen some sun you might have the confidence to cut down on your coverage. A tinted moisturiser could be the simple staple you need to see you through the summer months. So why not let your skin shine through with my top five tried & tested formulas…

Bobbi Brown Nude Finish Tinted Moisturizer SPF15, £29.50 – This lightweight, creamy moisturiser invisibly covers redness and unevenness as it infuses skin with refreshing, sustained hydration.

Looking for a new lip colour to lift your look? Find the most flattering shade for you with my picks of the palette…

Electric Orange

The perfect partner for olive skin and cooler than a classic coral. My top tangerine tones are Chanel’s Sari Dore and Illamasqua’s Flare.

Poppy Red

For fairer skin tones and red lip loyalists, I love a punchy poppy red. Tom Ford’s Flame or MAC’s Lady Danger are the best of these bold brights, perfect when paired with this season’s khaki hues. 

Deep Damson

Dark lips are sticking around for summer. Burberry’s berry shades (Bright Plum & Damson are my favourites) will add a sexy splash of attitude to your S/S”17 wardrobe. 

Apricot Nude

Only olive skin can pull off these peachy undertones so get in the garden and work on that tan. Burberry Nude Apricot and Laura Mercier Peche are my picks for pale peachy lips.

Spring has sprung and it’s time to introduce some colour to your complexion. Here are my tops tips for a modern makeup look…

Colour Clash

Pink and red are this season’s hottest colour combo so next time you’re stepping into cerise be brave and reach for a red lip with MAC’s Ruby Woo, £16.50 (bottom left).

Underliner

Bored of spending hours perfecting your liquid liner? A speedy slick of cream eye shadow stick below your lashes will minimise your time in the mirror. I’m mad about metallics so I use Bobbi Brown Long Wear Shadow Stick in Golden Bronze for an instant touch of glam, £23 (top right).

Blurred Lines

Requiring no hand-eye coordination this is one trend that’s sure to catch on. Put down your lip liner and use your finger to fade the perimeter of your lips, the result is a soft sultry stain in seconds.

Modern Mustard

Add some interest to your eyes with a wash of yellow, mustard, orange or ochre. This surprisingly chic colour palette is a subtle alternative to the safer taupe tones we see every season. Illamasqua Vapour, £16.50; MAC Outré and NARS Scorching Sun Duo, £25, are my selection of shades to shop.

This week Camilla discusses her skincare saviours

The secret to a flawless complexion lies in your skincare choices, so forget makeup for a minute and focus on bare-faced beauty. Finding the right cleanser, exfoliator and moisturiser can be a complex task so here are my top tips to simplify your search.

1. Regular cleansing is essential for dissolving the daily build up of dirt and preparing the surface of the skin for other products. Foaming face washes such as Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser are great for those who like a squeaky clean feeling without stripping the skin of its natural oils. If you suffer from dry or sensitive skin you may prefer a more soothing cream cleanser. The cult Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish comes with a cotton cloth to gently reveal refreshed, radiant skin.

2. There is a slight misconception that exfoliators should contain micro-beads to really buff away dead skin cells, however exfoliators made from natural fruit enzymes are brilliant for carefully clarifying your complexion. Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel is a non-abrasive exfoliator that brightens and purifies skin without scrubbing.

3. Make sure you know your skin type before you buy your moisturiser. I suffer from eczema and I find a heavy duty cream such as Dr. Hauschka Rose Day Cream not only nourishes, it reduces redness and miraculously leaves my skin luminous. Applying a night cream will encourage skin renewal and restore elasticity, Sisley Night Cream with Collagen and Woodmallow works by firming skin whilst you sleep.

Long Lasting

Burberry Cat Lashes, £24 – My everyday essential; the hourglass wand fans out lashes for a clump-free feline finish.

Nourishing

Neal’s Yard Remedies Lengthening Mascara, £16 – Made with 100% natural ingredients including coconut oil and aloe vera, this mascara will condition as well as lengthen your lashes.

Night Out

Givenchy Noir Couture Mascara, £25 – For bold lashes that won’t budge, this mascara will keep your eyes wide until the early hours.

Waterproof

Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara, £19 – Creates voluptuous, voluminous lashes that won’t cascade down your cheeks should you suddenly start crying.

Thickening

This week Camilla round’s up her favourite makeup brushes

 

Growing up I owned one makeup brush… the one that comes in the box with Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer. Yes, I’m as guilty as the rest of you! These days however, I have stream lined my personal collection from the vast variety in my professional kit. Here are my essentials for creating everything from seamless skin to a precision pout.

1. Real Techniques Core Collection £21.99 – By far the best set for beginners. These four full-sized brushes were crafted by beauty guru Samantha Chapman to create a beautiful base.

2. MAC 217 Blending Brush £21 – Makes eyeshadow application easy. The densely packed fibres diffuse the edge of your eyeshadow for a seamless socket.

3. Chanel Angled Lip Brush No.33 £25 – The slanted shape allows for controlled application of colour, leaving lips looking professionally painted.

4. Tom Ford Cream Foundation Brush £59 – The perfect partner to their Traceless Foundation, this brush blends and buffs for a flawless finish.

5. NARS #45 Smudge Brush £24 – The smoky eye essential. Its short, dense bristles are perfect for pressing in eyeshadow and softening out eyeliner.

This week Camilla’s been trend-spotting at London Fashion Week

As the Autumn Winter ’17 shows come to a close I’m hot-footing it to my nearest haberdashery to tap into this season’s biggest beauty trend – the velvet ribbon. Used by hairstylists at Tory Burch, Temperley and Emilia Wickstead this inexpensive accessory will elevate your everyday look in seconds.’

Work The Trend

‘Simply secure a low-slung ponytail with a regular hair tie and wrap a length of velvet around, finishing in a floppy bow. Although (for once) we can all afford one in every colour I’ll be taking tips from Tory Burch; the thick black bows seen on her girls were so effortlessly elegant. I can’t wait to try this trend to add a touch of romance to my classic boyfriend jean & Breton tee combo.’
