The Taylor Swift-approved beauty trend for part season

Now, we’ve heard of a shimmery eyeshadow, a glossy lip and a luminescent highlighter – but what about glitter freckles? This is the latest beauty trend doing the rounds on TikTok, thanks to Taylor Swift.

The pop star is no stranger to casual glitz and sequins, but she upped her game at a recent Chiefs game when she teamed up a Vivienne Westwood ensemble with gold glitter freckles. The shimmer added a playful (and experimental) touch to Taylor’s going-out look, and set the trend for fancy freckles in motion – with 66 million posts in counting covering the topic on TikTok.

Where Are Taylor Swift’s Glitter Freckles From?

Word on the internet is that Taylor got her freckles from Florida-based beauty brand Fazit. The brand sells glitter freckles makeup patches for just £13, which are designed to be applied to the face in one go (a bit like a temporary tattoo). Fazit co-founder Aliett Buttelman shared her live reaction on TikTok, alongside the news that her sales increased by 2,500 percent in just 13 hours following the event.

How To Get The Look

Glitter Freckles Patches

Makeup patches will likely be your easiest (and fastest) option – and if it’s good enough for Taylor Swift, it’s good enough for us. Here’s how to apply a glitter freckles patch, according to Fazit:

  1. Peel off backing and place patch sticky-side-down.
  2. Wet a towel and dab the patch for 60 seconds.
  3. Peel off patch to reveal Stardust Speckles.

The brand notes that the glitter should last anywhere between 24 and 72 hours, but can be removed with micellar water and oil-based cleansers (no need to scrub).

Glitter Freckles Makeup

If you don’t have any patches to hand, don’t worry. You can recreate the look using any liquid glitter, and even mix it up with freckle pen to add some more realistic-looking freckles around the glitter spots. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Prepare Your Skin: Start with a clean, moisturised face. (And make sure to apply sunscreen, especially if you’ll be outdoors.)
  2. Apply Makeup Base: Use a primer to create a smooth canvas. A lightweight foundation or concealer can be applied to even out skin tone without heavy coverage.
  3. Apply Primer: Take a small amount of glitter primer and apply it to the areas where you want your freckles. This helps the liquid glitter adhere better.
  4. Create Glitter Freckles: Using an eyeshadow brush, dip it into the liquid glitter. Lightly tap the brush onto the areas where you applied the primer, creating small dots that resemble freckles. You can vary the size and intensity by adjusting how much glitter you pick up.
  5. Add Faux Freckles: After applying the glitter, use a freckle pen to add realistic-looking freckles around and between the glitter spots. This adds depth and mimics natural freckles.
  6. Set Your Makeup: Lightly dust setting powder over your face to keep everything in place, focusing on areas that might get oily. Finish with a setting spray to lock everything in place.
  7. Final Touches: Complete your look with any additional makeup you have planned, and you’re good to go.
