Meet the homegrown heroes of British fragrance
As the winter chill begins to wane and nature awakens with a burst of colour, it’s time to embrace the vibrant spirit of spring. Alongside the blooming flowers and longer days, the change in season calls for a shift in scent. Spring is the perfect time to explore lighter fragrances that capture the essence of renewal and vitality – and where better to start than Molton Brown? The British brand has been perfecting its perfumery since 1971, crafting fresh fragrances that offer complex profiles and long-lasting scent.
All of Molton Brown’s Eaux de Parfum and Toilette lines are made in England, in a carbon neutral manufacturing facility in Hertfordshire, using cruelty-free formulas known for their generous fragrance concentrations. Boasting one of the highest oil concentrations in the industry, the brand’s Eau de Parfum lasts up to eight hours, while the Eau de Toilette has a lighter wear at around three hours – but that’s not the only difference between the bottles. The Eaux de Parfum and Toilette of each collection offer different expressions of the same base fragrance and ingredients, with each Eaux de Parfum having its own olfactive signature note to distinguish it from its respective Eau de Toilette.

Flora Luminare
Florals, for spring? Yes please, especially if they come courtesy of Molton Brown’s Flora Luminare fragrance line. A wonderfully fresh bouquet of orange blossom, jasmine, rose and white-petalled tiare, offset by notes of ylang-ylang and cedarwood, this perfume is especially fitting for spring. It’ll clear away any leftover winter cobwebs, leaving behind a pretty floral scent that’ll make you dream of meadows, flower markets and warm days in the garden.
Molton Brown tells us that Flora Luminare’s key ingredient, tiare, was sourced from the purest, most concentrated form of the flower so that perfumers could access the richest layers of its scent. As Senior Perfumer, and creator of Floral Luminare, MaĂŻa Lernout explains, ‘the bloom is three times distilled to capture every single facet. It’s not a process that is widely used in perfumery, which makes this ingredient particularly precious. Not only is it rich, it’s also more sustainable.’
We imagine Flora Luminare being a signature scent for those with special events on the cards this season; a light and fresh scent, it makes the perfect accessory for springtime weddings and garden parties.
Orange & Bergamot
For those dreaming of an escape to warmer climes, the fragrance of choice has to be Molton Brown’s iconic Orange & Bergamot scenting range. The fragrance uses all elements of the bitter orange tree, a plant that has grown synonymous with the Spanish port of Seville, and offers a zesty blend of sparkling orange and neroli oil (the latter of which is sourced from hand-gathered blossoms). This is offset by petitgrain and notes of ylang-ylang, florals and fruits, bringing about the ultimate wanderlust fragrance.
This is a vibrant fragrance, one which Master Perfumer and creator Beverley Bayne describes as ‘an enduringly happy essence’ that will infuse its wearer with a hopeful energy – or at least inspire them to start planning their next adventure.
And, speaking on the topic of far-off destinations, this is the fragrance you’ll be wanting to smuggle into your suitcase this season (and every other season after). It will fully immerse you in that holiday feeling, while offering a long-lasting freshness that’s perfect for big (and long) days out exploring the world.
Delicious Rhubarb & Rose
The Delicious Rhubarb & Rose collection has been a Molton Brown Classic for 10 years now – so it’s no surprise that demand was high to make it part of the brand’s growing fragrance offering. This perfume has long had a space in our hearts (and on our dressing tables), with its pretty pink fragrance smelling good enough to eat. Reminiscent of morning baking sessions at home, its scent profile is a tantalising mix of grapefruit, rose, and rhubarb, with creamy vanilla making it all the more mouth-watering.
‘The fragrance is filled with the scent of fruits covered in sugar and cooking in the jam maker,’ explains Senior Perfumer Vanessa Prudent, who was inspired by her childhood memories of baking when crafting Delicious Rhubarb & Rose. ‘Green notes and pink pepper evoke the crinkled leaves and thorny aspects of fruit bushes, while candied notes remind me of happy times.’
A sweet fragrance like this is ideal for day-to-day activities, with the lingering hints of vanilla guaranteed to keep your spirits lifted throughout the day. A quick spritz before heading into the office, going on a walk or meeting friends for lunch will do the trick – and encourage everyone nearby to ask you which perfume you’re wearing…

The carefully crafted blends and the brand’s commitment to quality ensure that each scent is a true embodiment of luxury and elegance – the only thing left to do is choose the right one for you.
