Another French import has hit the salons: get to know Parisian blonde

Craving a change this season? How about our new favourite French import: Parisian blonde. The warm, lived-in hair colour is having a major moment in the salons, and it’s quickly becoming the hue of the season.

What Is Parisian Blonde?

‘Parisian blonde is a beautifully balanced shade that lives in the sweet spot between blonde and brunette,’ explains Jason Collier, celebrity hairstylist and founder of Studio23. ‘It’s subtle, lived-in and sun-kissed, like the colour you’d get after a summer in the South of France. It’s not about high-impact platinum or beachy balayage, it’s about quiet luxury and elegance, with a softness that flatters the face.’

The stylist goes on to tell us that the hue has ‘a much more noticeable warmth’ than other shades of blonde, ‘but it’s never brassy. It isn’t a “blonde” in the traditional sense, it’s more of a toned-down, blended hue that embraces natural undertones. It’s seamlessly multi-dimensional, often with shadowed roots and a gentle melt into golden or beige ends. It’s not overly polished, and the finish carries that signature French effortless chic.

‘We’re seeing a real shift toward hair that looks luxurious without screaming for attention,’ he adds. ‘Parisian blonde aligns with that movement as it’s expensive-looking but low-maintenance. In a post-pandemic world where people want ease and elegance, this trend delivers both.’ The colour isn’t just for spring, either: ‘It’s also very versatile across seasons, which adds to its appeal.’

Who Suits This Cut?

The blendability of this hue means that Parisian blonde is one of the more adaptable hair colour trends of 2025. ‘Because it incorporates a mix of warm and cool tones, it can be customised to suit a wide range of skin tones – from porcelain to deep olive,’ notes Jason. ‘It’s also a great option for those wanting to go lighter without compromising hair health, as it generally involves less aggressive lifting than ash or platinum blondes.’

How To Ask For Parisian Blonde In The Salon

‘Ask for a warm, dimensional blonde with soft regrowth and diffused highlights that frame the face,’ recommends Jason. ‘Be clear that you’re looking for something low-maintenance and natural. A good colourist will adapt the tone to complement your eye colour and skin tone. It also helps to have your current colour history available so they can plan the lift accordingly.’

And if you have a more specific look in mind, the stylist suggests you, ‘Bring visual reference – ideally photos where the lighting is natural and you like the root-to-tip blend.’

How To Style Parisian Blonde Hair

As with all Parisian-approved trends, the goal is ‘undone glamour’. So when it comes to styling, Jason says: ‘Think loose waves, centre-parted blowouts or even an effortless bun. The colour pops most when the texture is soft and natural, so avoid over-styling. A glossing serum can enhance the dimension and keep the tones reflective. And avoid overly matte finishes. This look is all about shine and movement.’

What Next?

‘Parisian blonde is likely to evolve into even softer iterations,’ predicts Jason. ‘We might see mushroom or “cappuccino blonde” shades gaining popularity, especially for winter. The emphasis will stay on tonal richness and condition, with bespoke colour placement that looks chic but never overdone. It’s the future of understated, elevated colour.’
