‘The big difference is how blunt and straight it is,’ he continues. ‘It’s usually styled super smooth and flat, which gives it a cool, high-fashion feel compared to the softer, more layered classic bob.’ (The ‘sliced’ part is in reference to the sharp sculpting of the cut, as well as its neat, blunt ends.)

With this cut, the emphasis is on sleekness – which means those with straighter hair may find it easier to manage. ‘It works best on straight or slightly wavy hair, since the shape looks cleanest that way,’ agrees Charlie. ‘Although I honestly think it suits most face shapes because it defines the jawline and frames the face in a really flattering way.’

‘Bring a few photos to show your stylist, and ask for a blunt, one-length bob with little to no layers,’ recommends Charlie. ‘If your hair isn’t naturally straight, you might also want to chat about how you’ll style it or whether a smoothing treatment could help.’

As for styling, Charlie suggests , ‘Using heat protection, then straighten the hair with a flat iron to keep those ends crisp. A shine spray or serum adds that extra polish.
