Review: Norwegian Prima Cruise Ship
The Ship
The Norwegian Prima – which boasts the most outdoor deck space of any new cruise ship, including an ‘Ocean Boulevard’ with 360° panorama – has the most extraordinary views of the ocean and breathtakingly magical sunsets.
With its own luxurious VIP area, The Haven has premium and spacious suites, the personal service of a 24-hour butler, it’s own stunning bar where you can choose your sustainable cocktail of the day, and a luxurious dining and breakfast area surrounded by ocean views.
The first three-level race track at sea, a ‘Virtual World’, and the biggest and fastest slides on the sea all mean the excitement never needs to stop. The evening brings with it a host of award winning entertainment from Broadway musicals, including Summer: The Donna Summer Musical, to a Casino, bars, and plenty of club nights with international DJs to help you party the night away.
STAY
The Haven Aft-Facing Penthouse features a master bedroom with a king-size bed, a double sofa bed to accommodate two more people, and a large aft-facing balcony displaying the dreamiest of views. Clean, comfortable and contemporary, the most sumptuous bed is guaranteed to give you the sweetest of dreams.
There’s a spacious, five-star feel bathroom with a jet pool bath, rainfall shower and double sink; soft focus lighting will make getting ready for your glamorous nights on board a total pleasure. A walk in wardrobe allows you to organise your belongings, and you can’t help but feel like an A Lister with your personal butler and concierge service at your disposal 24/7 to help book day trips, onboard shows or restaurant reservations, or to help with any in-room dining or housekeeping needs.
EAT
Guests are spoilt for choice aboard the Norwegian Prima, with a vast variety of dining options, from buffets to silver service. Here are a few of our standouts.
Nama Sushi & Sashimi
A contemporary, luxurious sushi bar with traditional Japanese culinary bites, prepared live. Custom rolls with creative ingredients allow you to explore delicious new tastes, and are complimented with a carefully curated Sake list.
Onda by Scarpetta
A modern Italian a la carte dining experience, from Scarpetta’s famous pastas and mouth watering seafood creations, enjoyed amid nautically-inspired interiors with lots of natural light. Don’t forget to save room for dessert: the tiramisu may be the best you’ve ever tasted.
Los Lobos
Bienvenido a Los Lobos is a premium Mexican restaurant combining traditional and modern flavours to keep your tastebuds guessing. From Carne Asada to Tres Leches Cake with Coconut Cream, the chefs at this restaurant focus on unique flavour combinations to make for an exotic and inspiring dining experience. Ask for outdoor seating to make all your senses sing.
SPA
Saving the best till last, the new Mandara Spa, takes cruise ship pampering to new levels. Spacious and elegant – designed by award winning architecture firm Rockwell Group – this is the perfect environment for tranquillity and rejuvenation.
A two-story cascading indoor spa waterfall awaits, along with thermal launders and the most glorious views available in the outdoor relaxation area, all with the magical lull of the ocean underneath. But perhaps the most impressive feat is the new (and first) charcoal sauna at sea. Derived from Japanese and Korean wellness practices, the charcoal sauna uses a radiant heat system with an outer charcoal layer to reach temperatures between 86-122° fahrenheit. With reclining areas for guests to relax, the sauna helps boost circulation and metabolism, flushing toxins from the body. It also assists with tension, muscle pain and arthritis by promoting the deep release of connective tissue and muscles. Seven other thermal experiences are also available to guests, including experimental showers, a flotation salt pool and an infrared sauna.
For treatment lovers, try the Ocean Spa Wave Massage: a unique treatment on a water-filled cushion, which features a therapeutic warm wrap of nutrient-rich sea plants and marine algae, releasing stress and tension from the body. It also includes a deep cleansing seaweed mask, aromatherapy essential oils, and scalp and foot massages. It really is heavenly.
Final Word
