Fancy a trip to Tenby?

If a seaside staycation is on the cards for you this summer, you might want to check out this charming cottage in Tenby – it just happens to be Roald Dahl’s childhood holiday spot. Here’s how to book a stay.
You Can Now Stay In A Tenby Cottage Frequented By Roald Dahl
‘An Easter holidays is hardly an Easter holidays without Tenby,’ wrote beloved children’s author Roald Dahl in a letter from 1933. In fact, Dahl spent every Easter in Tenby throughout his youth, and he eventually returned to continue the tradition with his own children. Now, the apartment he stayed in bears a blue plaque celebrating its significance in his life – and it’s also available to rent.
Known simply as The Cabin, the property sits on the first floor of a handsome listed building at the base of Tenby’s Pier Hill. It’s flanked by the harbour on one side and Carmarthen Bay on the other, commanding some rather glorious views. It even boasts direct beach access. (During his own visits to The Cabin, Dahl himself enjoyed ‘donkey rides on the beach and long walks with the dogs along the top of the cliffs opposite Caldey Island’.)
The apartment is large enough to sleep six guests, with a living/dining room, a spacious kitchen, and two bathrooms. It’s complete with everything you might need (from a dishwasher and a washing machine to WiFi, a TV, and a handy parking permit) and it’s just a stone’s throw away from the pubs, shops and restaurants on the seafront. With such a fascinating history, it just might be the most sought-after holiday home in Tenby…
