The Hound Opens In Chiswick Next Week

The Hound Exterior

Add this soon-to-be hotspot to your list: building on the success of The Cadogan Arms and The George is The Hound, a new drinking and dining spot in Chiswick fully kitted out with a pub, two private dining rooms, a covered outdoor courtyard and a south-facing front terrace, perfect for when the sun finally shows its face (but with a retractable roof for that indoor-outdoor feel year-round).

Housed in the walls of a historic Victorian police station, it’s set to become a new drinking and dining destination for West Londoners, serving lunch, dinner and bar snacks seven days a week. Lovely historic details include an exposed brick ceiling from three combined former prison cells in the main private dining room, with two former cells totally transformed into wine cellars, with prison bars and doors kept intact.

Sports fans are naturally welcome here, too: live sport screenings will be shown on TVs throughout the pub and courtyard, with the private dining room at the back of the pub (‘The Green Room’) also home to a huge projector screen, perfect for group viewing. New spot to watch the Olympics secured?

Best of all for out-of-towners, The Hound will house just four boutique guest rooms nestled above the pub, perfect to make a weekend of it in leafy Chiswick, opening in August.

The Courtyard

The Courtyard

‘We are excited to be taking over this historic site in Chiswick,’ says Dominic Jacobs, Managing Director of The Hound. ‘It has long been a cornerstone of the local community and we hope that it will continue to be one, offering a welcoming space for socialising whether for a drink, meal, special occasion or overnight stay. Both The Cadogan Arms and The George have embedded themselves in their respective local communities over the past three years and are thriving as a result. It is with the same ambition we hope to launch The Hound.’

On the menu, guests can expect recognisable favourites from The Cadogan Arms and The George plus new twists on pub classics. Think black pudding scotch egg with oxford sauce, buttermilk fried chicken, and ham, egg and chips with spiced pineapple ketchup. New offerings exclusive to The Hound include grilled red prawns with chilli and garlic gremolata, and focaccia and salt cod croquettes with lemon aioli and coriander. There will also be a Sunday roast to tuck into every weekend.

Meanwhile on the alcohol side of things, the beer list will feature established breweries, local craft ales, perfect pints of Guinness and a bespoke Morhoch Cornish Pilsner by Cornwall’s Harbour Brewing Co. For wine lovers, expect iconic classics alongside winemakers pioneering new regions, plus The Hound will proudly pour its own label tap wines created with Uncharted Wines. Finally, the cocktail menu will be split into four styles: ‘Signature Serves’ (featuring the Hound’ Summer Cup and the Beeswax Negroni), Market Specials (featuring fresh ingredients sourced from the nearby daily Chiswick Fruit & Vegetable Market), ‘& Tonics’ and ‘Non-Alcoholic’.
