Where Was The Perfect Couple Filmed?

The Perfect Couple was mostly filmed in Cape Cod – the famous Massachusetts peninsula that juts out into the Atlantic Ocean, a popular summer haunt for New York City dwellers – including Chatham and Eastward Point. Additional filming took place on the small island of Nantucket, where The Perfect Couple is set. According to the Cape Cod Chronicle, ‘The sight of Nantucket Police cars parked [in Cape Code] caused many double takes.’ Indeed, one passerby reportedly stopped to ask when Nantucket had moved its police department to Chatham.

‘Because the majority of The Perfect Couple was filmed on location in Chatham, the production will have an authentic Cape and island feel,’ Elin Hildebrand, author of the novel The Perfect Couple is based on, told Boston.com. ‘The second unit shot extensively on Nantucket itself, and the script includes inside references to places like Bartlett’s Farm. Hollywood legend Fred North took overhead footage in his helicopter, and he later messaged me and said it was one of the most beautiful places he’s ever shot.’

Also in Massachusetts, Nantucket is an island in the Atlantic, sitting around 30 miles off the south coast of Cape Cod. Like Cape Cod and its better known neighbour Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket is famous for its summer tourism, with a summertime population of around 80,000 people (with just over 14,000 people residing on the island year-round). The streets are cobblestoned, the houses colourful and white-trimmed, and the beaches plentiful. This is where the action of The Perfect Couple is set, with the Winbury family’s historic seaside estate at the centre of the action…

Is The Winbury Estate Real?

Yes, the Winbury estate is a real, well-appointed house in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts, near Cape Cod – though the series is set a hop across the ocean in Nantucket. As we hear in the trailer, the Winburys are ‘rich – kill someone and get away with it rich’. In fact, they are one of Nantucket’s wealthiest families, and the real compound is magnificently sprawling to fit this. Perched right on the beach, this 5,700 sq ft home (called The Beach House) has six bedrooms and seven bathrooms under its roof, along with direct beach access and panoramic views of the local harbour from almost every room.
