Annie Ibiza looked to Leonardo da Vinci, Joan of Arc and Venetian craftspeople for this season's bridal offering

When Annie’s Ibiza released its first ever bridal collection last year, it sent brides into a spin. Defined by elegant beadwork, gothic undertones and sculptural silhouettes, the collection was a major moment for the label – as well as designer Annie Doble, who secured her place in Britain’s couture bridal scene.

And now, the label has just unveiled its sophomore bridal offering: a Renaissance-inspired collection that pays homage to the artists and craftspeople of 14th century Italy.

Annie’s Ibiza Launches Renaissance-Inspired Bridal Collection

When it came to creating the follow-up to her debut bridal collection, Annie Doble turned her attention to Renaissance Italy. Inspired by the expert craftsmanship of Venetian artisans, the Annie’s Ibiza founder and creative director honed in on hand-embroidered finishes, intricate lace work, detailed beading and opalescent hues. The result? A collection that explores the romantic form for the contemporary bride.

The Highlights

One major point of reference for Doble were the Old Masters – more specifically, Leonardo da Vinci, and his ‘tireless pursuit of perfection and limitless imagination.’ It was da Vinci that drove the designer to explore the concept of mastery within her collection; fusing historic techniques with modern design, she used lace, silk and hand-beaded details to capture the interplay of light and shadow through the contrasts between strength and delicacy.

The Joan of Arc Gown and Mini Dress

But of all the pieces in the collection, it is Doble’s Joan Of Arc Gown that remains a highlight. Paying homage to the ‘feminine strength’ of the historical figure, the design showcases a silhouette built from Renaissance-style cathedral arches crafted with recycled glass beads.

The brand has also taken more sustainable measures this season, incorporating deadstock, recycled, vegan and natural materials (including raw silks and organic cotton) and producing the collection in limited runs to minimise waste.
