1. Consider It’s Purpose

Are you a note-taker, a quick planner or a full-on journaler? Once you decide what exactly you’ll be using your diary for – keeping track of events, tracking goals or passages of deep reflection, à la Bridget Jones – then you can quite easily narrow down your search. You can then also decide if you want any additional features, like list pages, calendars or note spaces.

2. Choose A Size

When it comes to diaries, size really does matter. Think about whether you want something you can easily take on the road with you, like a pocket journal, or something that will give you plenty of room for notes and planning.

3. Select A Layout

Similarly, you’ll want to pick out the right layout for your note-taking tendencies. The main options you’ll find are:

Daily Layout: One page per day, ideal for detailed journaling.
Weekly Layout: A week spread across two pages, great for an overview of your schedule.
Monthly Layout: Useful for long-term planning and tracking events at a glance

4. Find Your Aesthetic
