Pistachio Green Is The Interiors Colour You Need On Your Radar

Pistachio girl summer, anyone?

Is pistachio green the more refined answer to the lime green trend currently taking the internet by storm? Here’s the rundown on pistachio green interiors.

The Pistachio Green Interiors Trend, Explained

You may or may not have heard of ‘brat girl summer’, the trend sparked by the recent release of Charli XCX’s new album, Brat. In a marked departure from any kind of ‘clean’ or luxurious aesthetic, it’s all about edgy, Y2K-inspired fashion and a bold, party-girl lifestyle – and at the centre of it all is the ever-so-slightly repulsive shade of lime green adorning the Brat album cover. No matter how eager you are to embrace the brat girl trend, however, painting your walls lime green might seem like a step too far. This is where the pistachio green interiors trend comes in.

According to experts at The Paint Shed, pistachio green is very much the trending paint colour of the moment. Taking inspiration from Italian summer (think pistachio gelato), it’s become particularly popular recently, with Google searches for ‘pistachio green wall paint’ up 100 percent in the past month. If you’re thinking about incorporating it into your home, we’ve compiled some tips from Michael Rolland, The Paint Shed’s managing director.

Where To Use Pistachio Green In Your Home

‘Green can work in many areas of the home,’ Michael notes. ‘In the living room, it can create a sense of serenity and an inviting atmosphere. Painting an accent wall pistachio green and pairing it with neutral furniture is the perfect way to add a touch of sophistication while maintaining a relaxed ambience in the space.’

When it comes to painting your bedroom, meanwhile, pairing the green shade ‘with cream and off white can bring a soothing feel to the room – brilliant for a space you want to be the most comfortable,’ Michael suggests.

‘Kitchens are the perfect choice of room if you want to go bold with pistachio green,’ he continues. ‘Painting cupboards in your favourite warm nut-green shade will give your kitchen the statement feel you’re looking for. Pair with wooden or marble surfaces to create a clean and effortless look.’

Colours To Pair With Pistachio Green

‘In contrast to many other green shades, pistachio is a versatile colour which can be paired with a wide range of other shades, depending on the space it’s used in and the desired effect,’ says Michael. From brown to pink, there are plenty of different options when it comes to creating the best colour palette.

Wood Brown

‘If you’re looking for a neutral option when working with pistachio, natural wood tones are a great choice,’ Michael advises. ‘Oak, chestnut and walnut browns are a perfect pairing for the warm green tone, sitting harmoniously together without creating a drastic contrast.’

Pink

‘Pistachio green harmonises beautifully with soft pink and creamy tones,’ he continues. ‘This refreshing colour palette creates a balanced and inviting atmosphere, perfect for bedrooms. The gentle contrast between the green and pink adds a touch of vibrancy without overwhelming the space.’

Buttery Cream

‘For a sophisticated look in living rooms, pair buttery cream shades with pistachio,’ Michael adds. ‘The neutral cream will create a calming backdrop, allowing the subtle green to take centre stage. A pistachio green accent wall behind a cream sofa or fireplace perfectly compliments the space, creating a subtle yet elegant look.’
