The School Backpack Checklist

There’s more to consider than just whether your back to school backpack looks good (although that certainly is important). Some of the other things to have in mind include:

  • Size & Capacity: Your school backpack should be spacious enough to accommodate textbooks, notebooks, and other supplies without being overly large, which can lead to discomfort.
  • Comfort: Comfort is crucial, especially for students who carry heavy loads. Look for backpacks with padded shoulder straps that distribute weight evenly and a padded back panel for added support. Adjustable straps can also help prevent strain on the shoulders and back.
  • Durability: Investing in a high-quality backpack made from sturdy materials like nylon or polyester is great for longevity. Features such as reinforced stitching and durable zippers also help with the backpack’s ability to withstand daily wear and tear.
  • Organisation: Opt for backpacks with multiple compartments, including dedicated pockets for laptops, pens and water bottles. This organisation will help keep items sorted and easily accessible, reducing the time spent searching for supplies.
  • Weather Resistance: Rain or shine, students will need a bag that will see them through all the seasons (and the weather that accompanies them). For greater flexibility, consider a backpack made from weather-resistant or waterproof materials to protect belongings from rain or spills. This feature is particularly important for safeguarding electronics and textbooks.
