It's time to wear our nightwear al fresco

Gingham, oversized co-ords and vertical stripes – what do all of these things have in common? Aside from internet domination, these microtrends take their cues from one single source: pyjamas. But while you might associate them with the bedroom, they’re currently making a splash outdoors. Intrigued? Let us formally introduce you to bedcore.

Becdcore: How PJs Became A Post-Summer Staple

Clinging to the last vestiges of summer? Lucky for you, there’s one blossoming trend that will carry you comfortably through the seasons. After all, just because the summer season is drawing to a close, doesn’t mean you should banish your bright colours and bold prints to the back of your wardrobe.

The days of keeping your cosies indoors are well and truly over. Dubbed ‘bedcore’, the new sleep-to-street movement embraces clothing inspired by slumber. Think extra large silhouettes, playful colours and patterns, loose fits and co-ordinating sets.

Bedcore been steadily brewing throughout the summer, boosted by influencers and celebrities who have happed on the trend with flair. One such famous face is Suki Waterhouse, who shared her take on the trend – a pretty green gingham two-piece with lace detailing – while at Coachella earlier this year.

As for day-to-day inspiration, look no further than London-based brand Damson Madder. Known for its bedcore co-ords, the brand offers looks that pair beautifully with vibrant ballet flats (or trainers) and statement jewellery pieces. Aka, an outfit that takes little effort to put together.

Another brand we’re loving take on the trend is GANNI. The Copenhagen powerhouse is all about relaxed, comfortable fits that bridge the gap from day to night (literally). For the autumnal shift, you can take inspiration from this black and white gingham co-ord, paired with brown leather biker boots for a transitional look.
